Easy Ways To Use Air Hose Reel For Pressure Washer & Build Pressure

December 10, 2016 by Hellen Smith

If you have a garden hose, you can connect it to a pressure washer that is a separate unit. What most people are not aware of is that an air hose reel can be converted into a pressure washer. No need to buy a pressure washer so long as you have the following things:

  • An air compressor
  • An air pressure attachment
  • Garden hose

Procedure

The first thing you do is to turn the air compressor for sufficient pressure build up. The PSI level in the pressure should be above 30 PSI on the pressure gauge.

Connect the garden hose

The hose should then connected to a faucet in your compound.

Water line

The other bit of the garden hose should be connected to the water line connection. The latter is generally a threaded part that serves as a gun connector.

Air hose plugging

This hose is removed from the air compressor and in turn, connected to the air line connector. It is rather pushed till it produces a popping sound in the attachment nipple.

Turning on faucet

To allow water to flow in the garden horse, all you now need to do is to turn on the faucet.

Pressure water attachment

This part can be purchased from any retailers in your neighborhood or online.

Increasing PSI

The air compressor loses the PSI readings with continued use. One can recharge so that it can be  reinstated. For your information, PSI is an acronym for Pounds per Square Inch. The pressure washer may not be able to build the much needed pressure if the tanks do not have adequate PSI

Increasing pressure in water hose

When you are watering your garden, you might realize that low pressure could waste you lots of valuable time. The spray might also not cover further areas of your garden. So, what do you do? Build pressure in it of course! The first thing though is to check on any leaks which could be reducing the pressure.

A pressure washer and a hose reel are the only two things. The other area that you will need to look at is the outdoor faucet and its connection to your water hose. If the connection is not strong, water will escape through the faucet and you will not be able to water your garden further than where you would be standing.

Larger diameter

If you have a garden hose already, get an extra one but make sure it has a larger diameter. This will help in delivering higher water volume per gallon in unit time.

Check for any restrictions

Sometimes the problem is not in the connection between the garden hose and the faucet. It may happen that the hose is twisted along its length.  The hose could be kinked as well and this would affect the pressure build up needed to water your garden.

One however needs to exercise some caution when doing some of these things. Premature cracking   is common and this is known to affect pressure.  A wide bracket is needed to ensure that these cracks do not appear. It is also advisable that you read more on how to store your air hose reel after use.

Pulling the hose ostensibly to remove the kinks is wrong. This is likely to have the effect of crimping it.

What to remember when adding pressure to your garden hose

Though a build up of pressure in hose is important, one should be aware of the consumption of water. You might unknowingly use more water than is restricted in your residential area. Most municipalities the world over have own restrictions on the amount of water you can use. The decrease in water volume wills however the pressure and this would mean that you will not sufficiently be able to water your garden or wash your car.

Conclusion

There are some recommended ways in which you can go round through  this legal limit and enjoy a ,much higher pressure with little amount of water. Lime deposited in your house could affect your pressure. Have them removed. Check the water meter shut-off valves and also buy booster pumps.
